About the Project

The Kiewit-Stacy Witbeck-Herzog Joint Venture was selected to deliver key track and systems packages for the nation's first true high-speed rail system. Initial contracts include mobilization, preliminary design, and construction activities that support the first 171-mile operating segment in California's Central Valley.

Need

California High-Speed Rail will provide a fast, reliable transportation option that connects growing population centers while supporting economic development and regional mobility. Delivering the track and systems infrastructure for the initial operating segment is a critical step toward bringing high-speed rail service to the United States.

Work

  • Design preliminary train control systems for the initial 171-mile operating segment
  • Deliver civil works that support track and systems installation
  • Advance planning and coordination efforts for seven additional track and systems packages

Impact

The project advances construction of the first true high-speed rail system in the United States. The initial operating segment will create the foundation for future passenger service, improve regional connectivity, and support long-term economic growth throughout California.
